Barbara Jordan - A Woman Of Many Accomplishments

Barbara Jordan was an American lawyer, educator, and politician who served as a U.S. Representative from Texas from 1973 to 1979. She was the first African American woman to serve in the U.S. House of Representatives and the first Southern African American woman to be elected to the U.S. House of Representatives. Jordan was a powerful voice for civil rights, women’s rights, and human rights.
